Growing Experiences!

Hey friends and family,
        Some updates on our life! We are currently keeping busy with getting the house presentable for a house warming party. That we will be holding this saturday! The interesting thing is this is robs idea. We've invited the neighborhood(our little street) and people we know else where. We both are excited but a little stressed cause we are trying to figure out how to create a better and non-cluttered look in our living room. Rob made some shelves that make his corner look more like an office.
          I am currently, working on finishing touches on a baby car seat blanket that attaches to the car seat to keep warmth in. I think its turning out to be pretty cute and can't wait to try it out on the little guy. We both are getting nervous over the few weeks left of the pregnancy. Rob and I are trying to get all we can ready for the little guy but sometimes we stop and think.....how do we prepare for someone we don't know quiet yet? Meaning we don't know his wants and likes yet...which is sort of exciting to think about trying to guess. Oh, we are excited to see what traits this little guy has from rob or me. Thats another cool topic.
           And as for health stuff. Baby is still growing and doing just fine! He absolutely hates the non-stress tests we do twice a week now but it gives me comfort to hear his heart beat for the 45minutes we are there. As for me my blood pressure has come down and the doctors are monitoring me and the baby closely to make sure we, one dont go into labor prematurely and two make sure we can handle the next couple weeks. So, far we are working great together. I can feel he's either gotten bigger or moved more south because he really likes the pelvic both...lol...
           Rob and work! Rob has been working on all sorts of odd jobs at work but mostly he is learning to delegate and allow others the chance to get things done. That's hard for him and very educational too. He also, is working with the scouts again. This week they are going to watch the city council discuss city ordinances in order to teach the boys more about the community and help them with that merit badge.
         We also have learned alot from our neighbor denis about tree's and some different house fixing stuff. Now, we just need to get through baby coming then we can take care of the tree's. Which'll be fun! (100 ft. firs needing to come out because they'll died!) wish us luck!

Heart Scares...

Baby Buff Oct. 27, 2011

Hey everyone!
                Sorry for not updating in awhile but rob and I wanted to gather information before hand. About a week ago I experienced some funny pains and short of breath symptons. Rob got me to the doctor where they ran some blood pressure tests, a urine test for protein and sugar, and then we waited to hear. When the doctor finally called with the result she said, " we need you to see the heart doctor at University of Washington to check on your heart, it seems to be beating higher than it should and you have alot of protein in your urine."
                In that time, I was asked to take it easy and lay on my left side till we had more tests done at the University. Which sparked a day in bed. This morning came the day to learn more. Rob and I got up at 4am and made out drive to North seattle where the school is located. Thinking there would be traffic we over calculated the drive time and got to rest for an hour before we met with the Ultra comm nurses. They first ran my blood pressure, then put a monitor to my heart to listen for how tight the vessels in my heart were pumping, then a second monitor at the bottom of my throat to hear how much blood I actually pump. This was way interesting. Poor rob he was tired so he tried his best to stay wake during this while I nervously talked.
                 After that we got to go to the ultra sound tech downstairs to measure the baby. Make sure he's getting enough blood and oxygen to grow... And well he didn't really like them measuring the size of his head so he kept punching the monitor scanny thing. That was fun...But he is growing just fine.A little on the big side for his head and belly (measuring at about the size of what a 36 week baby would be at and 8cm around for his head so far) and his legs and arms are at the 33 1/2 weeks (which is how far along i actually am)- so normal. Then we got to do a non stress test. Where they hook my baby bump up to two monitors- 1. for baby heart rate and the 2nd for contractions. To see if maybe I was having early signs of labor. Nope! I am still cooking this baby!
                   After all these fun tests and new nurse we made laugh. We finally met with the doctor who told us I am board line preaclampsia but not quiet. I am having some issues with my heart vessels deciding to tighten and my body is over producing blood flow. So, no worries the doc put me on some blood pressure medicine to slow down blood making- he says baby should be just fine and with that I get to do a lot more non stress tests in the next 2 weeks. And come back for a follow up with the University in 3 weeks. Now, we need baby to stay in my belly and grow for about 4 more weeks. Then they say he should be fully grown and able to be okay out side the belly. WE ask if you don't mind to keep the baby buff in your prayers and we hope this settles. Doctors say its very common with first pregnancies and that once baby is born my body should stabilize and go back to normal. So, we are hopeful and pray that all will be okay!

Fun times owning a House!

             Wow! Who would of thought owning house would be super fun but also require a lot of work...I guess it would make sense. Well, we have encountered some fun knowledge from our neighbors. We learned that our rather tall tree's on the side of the house are possibly trying to die on us. Gotta love nature. So, rob and I get to meet with the a tree expert and figure this out. We have the symptoms of sap leaking from old cuts on the tree, lots of pine-cone dropping, and some branches have fallen (cause of all the rain and windy nights we've been having).
            It's funny to think that Washington's beautiful trees get to be super tall...its going to take a crane to remove these tree's...which will be cool but also costly! Along with the c-pap, then the baby coming and now this...Life gets fun when you grow up right?
 

A Day of Learning!

Today I finished my first ever quilt. I decided that for me I wanted to make something special for my little baby boy. SO, about 3 months ago I went to Joann Fabric's for some fabric. But I had no idea what to get that wasn't too girly. Now, Rob has an eye for these kinds of things.
Rob picked out blues, grey and I found stars and dragon flies. Then I learned dragon flies are more of a girl bug...funny right? So, we went from there. I began learning how to get the right square sizes-since my sewing is not skilled enough to do anything more fancy than squares yet. I learned how to make the top part of the quilt. Then the ladies at joann's came up with putting cozy flannel on the bottom. That way I didn't have to worry about the batting and stuff.
Once, we both got the low down on how to get all the cutting, sewing pieces together, we went home to start! In that time we have moved and I have been mentally blocked by not knowing how to connect the two sides together. I mean I knew I needed the edge stuff and my sewing machine but much more than that I was stumped. Until, my friend told me how to do it. So today I finished my first quilt!
A long with a quilt I decided to make some dark curtains for the babies room. Mostly because both rob and I have been instructed my our classes that the baby will not know the difference between dark and light-which means he'll have a hard time learning to sleep at night if there is a lot of light coming into his room at night. Which with our luck there is...Our next door neighbor has decided he needs a 6 foot lamp light that stays on all night in his back yard in order to keep watch or something. Well, this is bad for us because the light shines directly into the little guys room. So, I figured out that if I made some denim curtains it would keep out the light. So far it is a success. And don't worry I added some baby charm to the mix with cute lizzard, frog, turtle and grasshopper fabric...it turned out cute. I am one excited mama!
Now the only things we have left before the baby comes are possibly getting a breastfeeding pillow, the stork visit(aka filling out medical forms before the due date that way the hospital doesn't have to bother the in pain mama and the worried dad) and packing the hospital bag. I don't know how early you should pack a bag but its on the list this week to first figure out what we need to take and what we want to bring with...Its amazing how time has gone...It feels just like yesterday when we found out about being pregnant. Oh but I can't wait to hold the little guy...I think he is going to be very much like his dad...

Sleep Apnea! No more...

                Today marks the beginning of Robert sleeping better at night and not dying! To explain, today we got a c-pap machine for his sleep apnea. Now, we test out Rob's machine in helping him breath at night. I am excited because he might actually get to dream for the first time. I wonder what that will be like. I mean I dream most nights but my husband has yet to have a dream and remember. I am excited to hear what tomorrow morning will be like. On to testing.
                 And as for me that means no more waking up to him not breathing! I am so excited to sleep knowing he isn't dying of lack of air. And some cool perks is the lady who installed the machine said it'll help rob not only avoid a stroke and help with his cholesterol problem but he might help fix his brain so he can remember better. I am excited to see how that works. But isn't it weird how the body is so fragile and if just one thing goes out of order you could be on the verge of death. I think Heavenly Father created us to be simple but still complex in nature. What a thought to ponder?
               I also am excited to report that the little baby buff is moving and growing well. He is creating all sorts of new movements in my belly which cause me to stop what I am doing until he is done moving. And the doctor says he has moved into the pelvis area getting it ready for when he decides to come out. Which has been a weird feeling for me but fun as well. Oh, we are doing well and I am excited to hear my to men are either getting healthy and are healthy!

A new Beginning!

Well, to start this blog thing. I found out it's the best way to keep a journal of my family and since I do spend a lot of time on the computer it would make sense to keep our family log here. Not only that but my friend Mary made a point of saying it's a good way for family and distant friends to keep tabs on us.
   So to start, rob and I have been working hard on getting things more settled in the house in order to be ready for our little baby boy. I am currently 31 weeks and 4 days pregnant and can't wait to meet the little man who finds new ways every day to stretch out in my belly. For example, last night he kept me up with stretching what feels like both his hands to the sides of my belly and moving them around. I don't think my skin liked that feeling but this mommy really thought it was cool. Until he kept doing it for a couple of hours and well into today. I can't believe he has gotten so big and its getting to the end of 9 months of waiting.
      To help with my freak outs about pregnancy and learning, I have made a new friend who lives by my new house. Thats another development-a house for the baby to grow up in-yay! But her name is Mary and she has been blessing for my sanity. Other blessings are the cute little old lady from england who lives a crossed the street who keeps tabs on my lifting ability and knows everything about our little dead end street/those who live on the street.
        Some other cool things about our home is that we live at the end of the street right next to a forest and a horse. His name is silver. I have always been a city girls so this has been quiet a treat for me. Rob taught me how to properly feed the horse and what kinds of things they eat. I can't wait to show the baby this cool animal.
        Our house is wonderful! It probably is way more room than we are use to but we love it. We painted the living room red and cream colored curtains. I got to paint flowers on the wall. It feels so cool to paint the walls. Sometimes I don't feel quiet old enough to do most of these things. Like being a mom, or a wife or even owning a house! But we are thankful for those blessings... now we wait for the baby!
